Recent Heatwaves & The Theory of Everything

Trying to Understand Recent Heatwaves

Scientists have shown that climate change made the recent heatwaves in India and typhoons in Japan more likely. These results come from a research area known as “extreme event attribution”. I believe these studies to be well-intended but I am afraid they suggest a false sense of accuracy. The true increase in risk may be orders of magnitude higher. I explained why in this recent video: Does Climate Change cause Extreme Weather?
Other Recent Developments

Black Hole Information Loss Paradox A few weeks ago, I commented on headlines in The Guardian and BBC news that said that the black hole information loss paradox had been solved. The Critic posted an interesting article criticizing the way the media had handled the case as well: Read more here.

This week's video is about my most favorite physics concept, the principle of least action. I have a section on this in my new book, but it wasn’t the right place to go into details, so I used the parts I had to cut out for my video.
One Final Note

Last week I was at a workshop about superdeterminism of retrocausality in Bonn of which I was one of the organizers. We talked about superdeterminism some months ago, and I am planning to talk about retrocausality in a future video.
