Quantum Reality Livestream & How Painkillers Work
Quantum Reality Livestream on July 25th
I will take part in a debate about quantum reality together with Carlo Rovelly and Eric Weinstein, hosted by Brian Keating. It'll be live streamed on Youtube on Monday July 25th at 6pm BST (7pm CEST, 1pm ET). More info here.
First Images from the Webb Telescope!
While the images attract most of the public attention, physicists hope that Webb will help them find out how stars are born or whether dark matter exists. More about this in my video. More to read: I wrote about the measurement problem for New Scientist's new newsletter.
Particle Dark Matter Under Pressure
A new review just appeared that quantifies the explanatory power of modified gravity and particle dark matter. It found (unsurprisingly) that modified gravity comes out ahead. Pavel Kroupa is one of the most vocal anti-dark matter physicists. He recently wrote about his perspective here. I talked about the dark matter - modified gravity controversy here.
In this week's video, I explain how painkillers work and what's the difference between Advil, Aspirin, and Tylenol.
There is a new 5th Patreon tier that’ll give you access to our videos ad-free and without sponsor messages, as well as access to certain new videos early.
A Look at the Reviews for Existential Physics:
"Stimulating....encourage[s] readers to push past well-trod assumptions [...] and have fun doing so" - Science Magazine "[Sabine Hossenfelder's] book offers a riveting and remarkably original take that makes room for hope, belief and faith within the house of reason and rationality. A must-read to better navigate this chaotic and complex current moment." - Priyamvada Natarajan, author of Mapping the Heavens: The Radical Scientific Ideas That Reveal the Cosmos
A contrarian scientist wrestles with the big questions that modern physics raises, and what physics says about the human condition. Here's the first review of my new book. Pre-order it here.
